Fall Colors

Over the last couple weekends, we have enjoyed the beautiful fall colors. Last weekend, we went hiking at the Kings Mountain National Battlefield. We enjoyed the scenery, history, and occasional rainstorm of yellow leaves falling each time the wind blew. The weekend before that, we had a picnic in the woods behind Russell's Grandma and Grandpa's house. We even experienced a bird's eye view of the foliage from atop Grandpa's ladder stand . . .

Halloween

Russell and Daddy have a halloween tradition of carving a jack-o-lantern together. This year they carved pumpkins from our own bumper crop of eight mini-pumpkins. They carved the one on the left together. Russell wanted it to look like his trick-or-treat pumpkin he was taking out halloween night. The other two were solo jobs for Dad, but Russell still claims them all as his. They looked really cool from the street when they were all lit up halloween night!

Russell, Cape Fear Explorer

Memorial Day weekend, we discovered a program sponsored by the Wilmington/ Cape Fear Convention and Visitors Bureau called Cape Fear Explorers. In order to become an official Cape Fear Explorer, you must visit at least 6 of 26 different attractions in the Cape Fear Regions (from 2 different counties) and collect stickers/ stamps. Over Labor Day weekend, Russell collected his 6th and final sticker. See some of the places he visited in the video below:

Russell's Summer Adventures

This summer, Russell has went on weekly adventures. Some lasted an afternoon and others for the week or weekend. In preparation for a workshop I am co-teaching at my school, Russell and I created a movie using Microsoft PhotoStory 3. The movie chronicles our journeys over the summer through the camera lens of Mommy and the narration of Russell. Enjoy!
